Rainy Season - Mud, Slush & delays

CSR Initiative

Subject: Request for Voluntary Assistance in Road Repair Near KIMS Vempalavattom

I am writing this post to bring to your attention the concerning state of the road adjacent to your hospital (KIMS ). I regularly drive through this road on my scooter and I along with other vehicle goes face the difficulty of navigating this bend due to some unfinished road work and potholes. This leads to slow traffic and result in blocks.

This situation becomes a significant issue, particularly during rain. The presence of multiple potholes on this curve, and the rain water makes it muddied mess. This problem is most severe during peak hours.

This situation is not about inconveniences for the public but also results in delays for ambulances trying to reach your emergency department. Also, people who're on the way to Kochu Veli Railway station gets struck in the traffic

In light of these challenges, I would like to propose that KIMS Hospital consider undertaking a voluntary initiative to repair this road. This would require funds to do the leveling work and it could be done with the approval from the authorities. Best part of such an initiative would not only greatly improve the traffic flow in the area but also enhance your hospital's brand within the community.

Here are some specific reasons why this initiative would be beneficial:

Easy Movement of  Ambulances to Emergency Ward:🚑

Repairing the road would ensure that ambulances and other emergency vehicles can reach your hospital without unnecessary delays. This improvement in access could potentially save lives.

Community Goodwill 🙌

Taking the initiative to repair the road would generate considerable goodwill among local residents and businesses. It would highlight your hospital's commitment to the well-being of the community beyond just healthcare services.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 🌍

Such a project can be part of your hospital's CSR activities. By sharing this initiative on social media and other platforms, KIMS Hospital can showcase its role in community development and civic responsibility.

Road Leveling on the Bridge

Additionally, there is a small gap on the nearby bridge that causes difficulties for scooter riders. Each time I pass this bridge near your hospital, I have to slow down or absorb the shock on my back. And, these are at two places on the bridge.😖
This is due to a metal frame on the road and the different road level which causes the bump on the road. By leveling this gap, you can make the ride smooth for hundreds of vehicle that pass this road. The shock is mostly felt by scooters riders and auto-rickshaws. I'm sure you too might have felt the jerk as you cross the bridge.

KIMS Social - A Voluntary Worker ( Half Day or Full time Worker)

Imagine if there's a person assigned by KIMS to clean the surrounding road. Such a person (s) with an electric pickup types could go around  Poonthi Road, also toward Venpalavattom side to pick any plastic or do regular cleaning work.

Assigning a person can also improve the cleanliness in this part of road, also removing the grass, unclog any drains or the remove the sand that gets piled on the side of the road. The road from Kumarapuram to KIMS and Venpalavattom to KIMS could be taken up for this purpose.

This individual assigned wearing a jacket with the hospital's name ( KIMS Social) , further promoting your hospital's dedication to community service. Also, the vehicle used could bear the name ( CSR Initiative of KIMS).

The people assigned should ideally be cheerful ladies, who who can spread positive vibe and do the job with dedication. ( They can be the brand cleaning ambassadors of KIMS). On a side note, I been thinking of this...a person with OCD ( Cleanliness mania) people would be best fit. ( on a lighter note) Not too chronic ones! 😄

To Conclude...

I believe that these measures would be highly appreciated by the general public and set a precedent for other institutions to contribute to community welfare. While government and public authorities are often stretched on resources to do timely repair, collaborative efforts from prominent local organizations like KIMS can make a significant difference.

I sincerely hope that you will consider this plea and take action to repair the road . Your involvement would not only solve a pressing issue which is not being addressed by the local authorities but also spread a community spirit and love.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your positive response.

Warm regards,

B Charles

P.S - On ( 3/6/24) around 10:30 I found two or three people trying to fill the gutter in the road with red sand. One person was wearing a security dress. I'm not sure who these people are. Anyways, it's good to see such acts.

P.S I'll be sending this blog post as a letter to KIMS authorities. I hope to get some response or action towards this cause.

Just imagine the number of cars, especially the doctors who work at KIMS and patients who have to get over this mess to reach the hospital. Apart from the initiative from the management, doctors at KIMS can take this up! What say docs!

Broken road near KIMS Hospital

Who's going to fix this?

Spot Marked

In this post I wrote about how a biz can support a community and it can also build a community of its followers. And, I accidentally stumbled on a recent reels by Richard Brandson about his efforts in this direction.

P.S Can we improve community participation in public works and suffice the needs of the local community?
