Did you know that GAIL is owned by  Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India (51.8%) and it's headquarters in New Delhi

Net income ₹9,902.81 crore (US$1.2 billion) (2024) ( Biggie money)

A billion dollar govt organization, having a thousand rupee look website! 

Here's the possible solution which is a just a one minute prompt from me. If I as a layman can provide such a feedback, I'm sure the team at GAIL who's in charge of usability, design, etc can make a big difference. 

GAIL - I visited the GAIL Gas website. Here’s a step-by-step approach to improve its user interface (UI) and usability:

1. Simplify the Layout

Current Issue: The layout feels cluttered with excessive menus, text, and graphics competing for attention.

Fix: Use a clean and minimalistic design. Prioritize important sections and reduce unnecessary elements.

Reduce the number of menu items. The common accepted standard is seven. 

2. Enhance Navigation

Current Issue: Menus are not intuitively categorized, making it hard for users to find key information.

Fix:

Implement a hierarchical menu with clear labels like Services, About Us, Consumer Support, and Careers.

Add a search bar with predictive text for easy access.

3. Improve Visual Appeal

Current Issue: Outdated visuals and inconsistent use of colors/fonts make the site feel unpolished.

Fix:

Adopt a modern design with a consistent color scheme aligned with GAIL's branding.

Use professional, high-resolution images and icons.

4. Optimize for Mobile

Current Issue: Limited responsiveness leads to poor mobile experience.

Fix:

Ensure the site is fully responsive and works seamlessly on all devices.

Optimize images and fonts for smaller screens.

5. Organize Key Information

Current Issue: Important details are buried under layers of navigation or scattered randomly.

Fix:

Create an FAQ section for quick reference.

Showcase primary features like services or customer portals prominently on the homepage.

6. Accessibility Enhancements

Current Issue: Limited accessibility features for users with disabilities.

Fix:

Add alt text for images, keyboard navigation, and better contrast for readability.

Ensure WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) compliance.

7. Faster Loading Time

Current Issue: Page load times are slow, which frustrates users.

Fix:

Compress images and use efficient coding practices.

Implement caching and a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for faster delivery.

8. Integrate Feedback Mechanisms

Current Issue: No visible way for users to provide feedback or report issues.

Fix:

Add a "Feedback" or "Contact Us" button that is easy to spot.

Fix:

10. Add Analytics for Insights

Fix:

Implement tools like Google Analytics to monitor user behavior.

Use insights to refine the design further.

A polished website not only improves user experience but also strengthens the organization’s digital presence, making it more accessible and engaging for users.
