As competitors sprouted to take market share and website traffic declined, Salesforce’s visionary CEO Marc Benioff planted a seed. “He saw these headwinds coming and wanted our company to get ahead of it,” Source: Content Marketing Institute
Just liked the use of metaphor - headwinds coming!
Headwinds" is a metaphor used to describe challenges or obstacles that make progress more difficult. It originates from aviation and sailing, where a "headwind" is a wind blowing directly against the direction of travel, slowing down the movement.
In a broader context, headwinds refer to factors that hinder or slow down progress, whether in business, economics, or personal endeavors. For example, a company facing "economic headwinds" might be dealing with challenges such as rising costs, market competition, or regulatory changes that make it harder to achieve growth. Btw, what are the headwinds coming your way, esp in the face of AI, Humanoids, and automation. What do you think of your job which you're doing or the biz you're doing which can be impacted by these technologies.
Here's my take on local markets:
1. It would be challenging to run retail shops ( supermarkets). The swiggies of the world will take customers with them
2. Akshaya centres ( If you're running an Akshya centre), here's my take on it. Right now, biz in booming and money is good. People throng to your centres to get govt paperwork done. But, in a very short time, you'll be facing lower footfalls as public will access these sites from home!
As these public portals becomes more user friendly, more and more people will log-in from home to apply and download the application. ( It won't be far when things go this way_
My take - Sell this biz now at a premium and invest elsewhere
3. Petrol pumps - Just like Gas agencies had a golden period, these units will see a decline in the coming years. Probably, it can go through a massive upgrade dive ( a mini-mark, coffee outlet, cash wash, rest room, electric charging points, pollution testing....) "
Remember how these technology and biz which kindof disappeared or the clout of these biz faded
1. Land phone ( Vsnl/BSNL) Gone are the days when there was a long waiting time to get a landphone connection. I have a vivid memory of going to a BSNL office near Plamoodu (one way road) to see when our house land connection will come. It's hard to describe the feeling I had which I went to the office...spoke to the lady in the seat, who went through her register to tell me about it's status.
2. STD Booths ( For making distance calls. All the 1 rupee public booths disappeared from many shops. I remember in Statue there were on Tandem ( Telecommunication hub) for making ISD, STD. There were couple of private booths to make the calls. I used to frequent these places as they offered privacy! :)
3. Gas Agency - ( It used to a biz biz) Only coveted people with money or connection or clout used to get the license to operate gas agency ( HP/Indane)
4.
