Add Value to Our Good Old Kerala Govt Calendar - Need for Change?

Kerala Sarkar Calendar

One thing you'll notice when you enter a govt office is the even green presence of Govt issue calendar on the walls. Often, you'll see more than one in the same office room. Perhaps, you can also notice previous year calendar too.

So, this post is about the typical calendar issued by Kerala govt with holidays marked in red. I believe, this calendar has been there for years and it's time for some change!

What change you can bring to a calendar?

One thing I felt that these physical calendars are too static. It's bit outdated for today's world - a word of flux. ( What say).

Well, I want these calendars to be interactive, updated, and bring more information to the user - esp, govt offices.

Here's how my plan to make changes to the existing calendar!

1. First and foremost, remove one static image like Break the Chain, or Say No to Drugs, on the months. Probably, something new can added in each month. What's the point of having the same slogan across all the months.

If you think it's important, then you can remove - Break the Chain, which is not relevant now. Also, for 2025, you can think of adding NAMA in one side of the calendar. Also a NAMA shows as a graphical QR code. Scanning the code,  user will know more about the significance of Nanma and other policies of the govt.

2. Next, is the use of QR Code on the calendar. Different QR Code to provide different set of information about each month. For example, the January month QR Code will provide more detailed information about the holidays. This link will take them to Kerala Govt Website. On the website, one page will provide all the information about holidays of the month, and even it can provide the new GO issued by the Govt, or link to special events planned by the govt or festivities of the month, etc.

3. Most people are not aware of Saka dates and Hijara dates. What if there's a QR code for people to learn more about it.

4. After each quarter, a separate page could be included with images of tourist destination, and other a new QR Code. On scanning, it will take to a new page on Govt site where the latest policies, and small biz support, or

( Going with my plan, it looks like this calendar will be filled with QR codes.

Also, is there a way, people can scan to buy lottery ticket or buy

Whom to Send these Suggestions? Will I get any acknowledgement? Any reply?

On the footer of the calendar, it's mentioned that it's prepared by the Gen Admin (Co ordination) dept and printed by Govt Press, Mananthala. One more thing about Govt press. Will they undertake printing of private material. In the age where printing work is getting phased out, I feel Govt press can take large  private work, such as printing text book of private schools, etc.

So, I have to find the email id of Gen Admin ( Co ordination) dept and a copy of the suggestion should be send to Govt Press, Mananthala. What say?

Another depart name just came to my mind. It's NORKA. ( https://norkaroots.org/ ) I think calendar should have some details about such services which can help people to find job abroad.

Like I mentioned in this post that one page should be left for an image of a tourist place in Kearla. In that page, a space with qr code of PSC should be included. On visiting the site, it will take to PSC site where people can know the vacancies, and job application dates and process. What do you say about it?

Just one page every quarter  for information about different govt departments, information about how to apply for Small biz license or FSSI lisence or a short infographic on how to apply for an income certificate, or how to apply for store quary license or how to start a beer and wine parlour and thousand other things which will be helpful for the public.. Those who are not interested can turn the page and move to the next month.

One more thing I thought was the information about DRY DAYS of the month, which will help people in Kearla to buy booze without any anxiety. Wish this calendar gave that info. Don't you think it would be a good time saver.
