Recycled Paper Bags for BEVCO Customers - Project by Kudambashree

Has this happened to you at booze centre?
Whenever I have asked for bags to carry booze bottle form BEVCO unit, the guys inside the counter would respond with a big NO. Seems like, customers have to either bring own bag or purchase one from the nearby store.

Wonder why the staff/administrators of booze outlets are so ignorant of providing basic conveniences for the customer? Sometimes, such obvious things are missing b'cos of the way Govt system works

Is it become some goddamn committee has to approve the purchase, or do they have to get some freaking tender to purchase? Who knows!

Is it such a hassle to source cloth bags and sell it to needy customers?

When we pass by Bevco unit, we usually see people openly carrying booze bottles and some lift their shirt to tuck it on the waist. All these are unsightly sights are common sights in front of the stores.

It's time we need an end to such things. It's time to find a way out!

Recycle Bags for BEVCO - Made By Kudambashree

Is it possible for BEVCO unit to use newspaper bag ( strong ones) to give it to customers?

Here's the step by step process:

1. First of all, a practical and innovative way to recycle used newspaper to make strong paper bags should be taught to Kudamabashree people. The bags should be sturdy to hold at least 750 ml bottle.

2. To make sturdy paper bags, one thing required is a strong base which can hold the weight of the bottle. Ideally a rectangle base cardboard base should be kept. Such a base will help to distribute the weight evenly. Also, the bags should have a strong jute handle.

3. A cardboard cutout in the shape of the rectangle base can be taken from the packing material which comes from the supply of bottles. So, sourcing and using cardboard from its own stock will bring the cost down.

4. The paper bags can be sold for Rs 5 ( small size) to carry a pint or Rs 10 which can hold a beer bottle and 15 Rs bag for keeping more than 4 beer bottles. And, there's option to buy cloth bag with a good base to carry more heavy weight.

5. With few research, trial and error experiment, paper bags can be made in such a way that it will have four or six compartments to carry beer bottle? What do you think? The compartments will be made using cardboard.

Cloth Bag at BEVCO

1 The cloth bag currently sold in many outlets have to redesigned. The shape of the bag should be changed to accommodate a flat base. This way, customers can carry more bottles, weight and keep bottles firmly. Just like the paper bag, a cardboard box of the size of a rectangle should be placed at the base of the bag.

2. This bag can be sold for Rs10 or 15 or 20 ( different sizes).

--------------

Kudambashree unit team, will be given training to make such bags and distribute to Bevco units. They can also supply to other stores like Agro Industries outlet or Maveli stores and even to Ration shops.

More importantly, Govt should come with a new RULE! The new mandate is that customers should either bring own bag or buy a bag from the store. No one will be given booze without a bag!

Why. There's a strong reason why such a plan should be implemented.

First reason is that, it's convenient for people to carry booze in discreet covers rather than holding booze bottle in the hand or keeping it on the hip. More importantly,  it's an unpleasant sight to see people walking with booze in hand, often lifting their shirt to keep the booze tucked in their waist.

Moreover, habitual drunks have no social consideration nor they have any qualms about waking with booze openly in their hand. ( Also, flashing of booze sends out a bag signal to the society and makes the area unpleasant sight for women and children to pass the store.)

Conclusion:

The plan is to make the whole process of buying booze more easy and sophisticated process. I wonder what the big honchos of BEVCO think about this plan? What's your opinion on this? I feel such policies will make these units a friendly shopping destination, especially Kerala being a tourist destination. We want a better Kerala centric image at such centres where people from other parts comes to buy booze. In this context, I also advocate them to change the crass color of the booze shop ( some maroon ( selected by some moron), and make it like a happy spot to buy a happy drink! Proabably, give it a tropical design theme!

All these, I hope will improve the public image about BEVCO units.

Curious Konnections!

കണ്ടൻ പൂച്ച. ( Saw this comment in a Reddit thread)

NB - Shall I sent this letter to the top brass of BEVCO. Will I get any response or an acknowledgement) And, more importantly, will anyone take time to debate about this and push for a change?
