Waiters at Restaurant - Remarkable ones gets Noticed & Picked!   Yesterday, ( 24/7/24), we went to a so-called biggie restaurant near Thampanoor for dinner. We were a team of team of seven and out of that three were oldies.  Here are few observations about the service and how waiters could have done much better service!  1. We ordered ala-carte menu. So, while ordering food, it would have been great if the waitress gave us a clear suggestion about the time it will take to get the food on the table. (No Clear mention of it). Only when the food was getting time, then she said that kitchen prepares all dishes as per order. ( Right!) We had senior citizen, had taken insulin injection and so, she was restless when food was getting late. What could be done - Give instructions to the guests about the best way to order - Soups ( time) Starter ( time) Main Course (Time) and Dessert. How to order so that everything flows in the right time.  What happens is that customers ...

Image
Has this happened to you at booze centre? Whenever I have asked for bags to carry booze bottle form BEVCO unit, the guys inside the counter would respond with a big NO. Seems like, customers have to either bring own bag or purchase one from the nearby store. Wonder why the staff/administrators of booze outlets are so ignorant of providing basic conveniences for the customer? Sometimes, such obvious things are missing b'cos of the way Govt system works  Is it become some goddamn committee has to approve the purchase, or do they have to get some freaking tender to purchase? Who knows!  Is it such a hassle to source cloth bags and sell it to needy customers? When we pass by Bevco unit, we usually see people openly carrying booze bottles and some lift their shirt to tuck it on the waist. All these are unsightly sights are common sights in front of the stores.  It's time we need an end to such things. It's time to find a way out! Recycle Bags for BEVCO - Made By Kudambashree I...

Why Bother Outside My Door

Image
Dirty and filth in front of an ATM The unkept footpath in from of an ATM near GG Hospital is not an unusual sight. We Indians are used to dirty, drainage waste, spit, plastic waste all strewn on the road. In fact, any public is also a place for throwing garbage. Another troubling attitude we have inherited en masse is the attitude of compete disregard to what's outside of one's house or compound!  I guess it was something we Indians has developed quite recently. Probably, more so after 90's when we embraced golobalization concepts. This triggered a flow of money, freedom and power of the individual.  What's beyond our apartment, house, bungalow, street, shop is not our biz! Btw, as I typed bungalow, I remembered of a colleague who use to like dak bungalow curry and Railway Chicken!

Holiday Savings Plan by Resorts

Image
Travel Savings Plan In a conversation with a person who came visited us from Germany, I picked few tidbits of information about life over there. One aspect which I liked was the vacation fund, which people save or put into a separate travel fund. Talking of travel fund savings, I thought of the gold saving schemes where were started by the jewelry stores in Trivaandrum and elsewhere. This was somewhere in mid of 2010 or time before Corona. So, somewhere in 2015, we joined for couple of gold scheme by the big gold shops in Trivandrum. At that time, we had more money coming in and we thought a small monthly subscription over a period will accumulate to buy gold ornaments at the time of maturity. And, boy, it was good! We could buy few sovereigns after the tenure of the gold savings scheme.  Fast Forward to 2024  Sometime in 2023, I wanted to go for a holiday, sans money. How is it possible to have a holiday in a resort without much money or paying less! I wished that some resort...

5 Principles of Organization - Love this

Image
HT to Chris Borgan for sharing this video about organization! After watching this short video with simple five points about organizing stuff, using shelf to store items, keeping similar items in one place and using storage spaces to keep things in one place!  Btw, I love to see organized spaces. When we visit a house, it's easy to spot if it's kept in a well organized way. Apart from the living room, kitchen is a space which makes cooking a breeze with good organisation. But, most Indian kitchen is packed with uneven bottles used as storage - from empty boost bottles to Nescafe jars.  So, what did I learn new from this video: 1. Learn to make shelves  2. Become more organized and teach other  3. Opportunity for someone who's good with organizing to start a YouTube channel about organizing Indian kitchen. Is that you? Are you the one? Few these influences who're the top notch in organizing! @pinchofhelp @makeitwithmicah @nowitsclean @alexanderreneedesign Holly Blakey...
